Here are some brand new scans of a Crysis preview that appeared in PC PowerPlay. This preview interviews Bernd Diemer – Crytek’s senior game designer. Diemer emphasizes the importance of the gameplay over the graphics. "When we release screenshots or videos for Crysis, everybody raves about the graphics"..."we want to be remembered for an intense and challenging single player and multiplayer experience".
Other information
- The movement of the volumetric clouds will cast shadows - being especially useful in avoiding detection during the night.
- The ice surface will be slippery and can break
- When developing the story, the team at Crytek viewed almost every film, television show, and comic book featuring alien races to get an impression of what had been done before and then used that information to take it a step further
- The Alien AI is so intelligent that if met with multiple threats, will determine it's greatest threat and destroy it first.
- Development of Crysis started back in 2004
- The game is not reliant on a Vista release. It will be released regardless of whether there is a delay in Vista
- The multiplayer netcode has been completely re-written from scratch
- A new improved sandbox editor will be released with the game. Improvements/additions include an easy ability to incorporate user made assets into the game and also a new Flowgraph (graphical programming environment that allows easy implementation of AI behaviors and events.

Nice find! The physics engine in that game is really shaping up to make the game super-immersive.

Cool, I like the idea of the smart aliens. I guess they are going to go after Jake first lol! Hes obviously the strongest.

I am glad their not counting on MS, they would prolly end up releasing it in mid-2007.

Yeah I almost wasn't gonna buy it, I was buying my "Zoo" Magazine (STFU) and I saw it, I flipped through and realized there were no new screens so I ditched it, but came back an hour later to get it ![]()

Nice read. And I'm happy they don't ship Crysis when Vista is ready to ship.
Isn't an NPC a "non playable character". Because at some point the article says "NPC character".

@wolfie- I think we can rule out tea and crumpets
@LOLz- Yes, he is referring to the people that help you in the campaign but you cannot directly control them (other Delta force members, etc.)

Sake!
Oh wait... that's Japan...
If they're shipping it, then, we can conclude it's not exclusive to Vista. Though Vista isn't a bad idea.
PE2: We saw them in the demo, true. Now we know that a lot of the graphics in Crysis aren't just for show ![]()
