Discussion of Crytek's Crysis games
You are not logged in.
I played Far Cry in Stereo3D and the game is incredible, seeing the fish in the water like I can reach out and grab them, walking through foliage like it's right in front of my face, it was an amazing experience!
I'm wondering if the new engine will support stereo3d and get an MTBS3D (Meant To Be Seen 3D) certification... does anyone know?
With how the graphics are looking, if this continues the level of Stereo3D support as the original, the overall experience of the game will be unbelievable.
Thanks.

Not sure what you used (shutter glasses I presume), but I'm pretty sure that you could use it with this game as well. If not, Crytek should take note because it's something that needs to be standard.
Here's an interesting read btw (incl. Farcry 3D):

Yes, that's a very good article. I forgot they used Far Cry as their main shot on the first page!
I am using shutterglasses, yes.

If crysis supports Stereo3D as good as farcry it would look way better than reality ![]()
i hope the programmers have some hours to check their postprocess effects working in S-3D.

Yeah Crytek is really awesome like that, Alex will go through all of these topics and pick out the ones that he will mention. ![]()

HD gaming in 3D would be awesome. Lets hope for the MTBS3D certification. The trailers have a realistic look I've never seen before. Can't tell the real pics from the game pics. Nice.
I'll test the demo in 3D when it is released ![]()

I hope it works in 3D too, I hate disabling "next-gen" effects because they are a hack.

I also hope it not only works but is the best 3D game made; IMO Farcry raised the bar as far as games that worked in 3D. If Crytec was able to code the best 3D game without even trying, I think with a little consideration of stereoscopic compatibility, we will see the greatest 3D game of all time. Wow, I get exited when I think about a game that's Cry Engine2, DX10 in HD and 3D.
Thank you Crytec for giving us one of the greatest stereoscopic 3D games of all time. Can you do it again?

Hope this answers your question: http://www.incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1863

Added support for 3D stereo/multichannel sounds! Now stereo (and above) sounds can be 3d positioned and even have EAX reverb applied! (EAX = win32 only)
Added Channel::set3DSpread! For stereo and above sounds, the 3D 'stereo spread' can be set (in degrees) for a sound making it mix down to a 3d mono point source, or a wide range multichannel 3d sound!
Added a host of new event effect controls for things like envelope based 2D/3D sound morphing, speaker spread of 3d stereo/multichannel sounds, sample offset control and more.

Thanks for the reply Doc. We are not talking about sound, it's a common mistake. We are talking visual stereoscopic 3D. Farcry is an amazing game in 3D, the leaves come right out of the screen and the depth makes the game so much more realistic.

iv never experienced stereoscopic 3d. But the whole concept is amazing. How much in AUD would a stereoscopic system cost? I already have teh pc for it. But a big screen/projector with the glasses etc is needed. Gets teh 5.1 suround to really get me into it. What size screen do you fellers use for this effect. I imagine the stereoscopic 3d effect would be wasted on a 17" because you have nothing in your peripheral vision.

Hi darkprince,
Do you have lcd or crt monitor?
You have an 8800? Very nice. Support is still in the works for these newer cards, there is discussion/updates on mtbs3d.com forums
I spent $50 US on shutterglasses from newegg and that was the only additional expense I had to get me going on it.
When I first heard about stereo3d for pc games, I could hardly believe it, and as I've mentioned before Far Cry (original) gives a wonderful presentation of how good it can be.

If you have any other modern nVidia card (not a 8800 that is) then you are all set. All you need now are some glasses and the nVidia stereo driver and corresponding forceware driver which can both be found at nVidia download section.
If you can get your hands on red/blue or red/green glasses then this would be good for testing. If you like the effect (I can practically guarantee that you will) then you can get shutter glasses such as the Elsa Revelator Wired for a few dollars on eBay. With shutter glasses, the colours are 100% pure aside from some dimming in light caused by the shutters.
I have been Stereo3D gaming for 7 years. I can't play a game without stereo. am sure other stereo gamers will agree.
MTBS certification for thsis game would be beyond amazing.
Ofcourse, this would become THE flagship stereo game - the game that everyone would buy for stereo and vise versa. It would be a win-win situation - Especially since nVidia has always been behind it 100%.
Looking forward to seeing this game the way games were meant to be seen.

I bought a Elsa Revelator on ebay and i dont would do it again. i paid 15€ and at many games i have a lot of white-flashes. Now I have some 20€ glasses from razor3d.de working perfect with all my CRT's. (i think its a eDimensional resell).

Whoah? I didn't think they'd be that cheap! ![]()
Of course, there's the problem of needing nearly twice the framerate, but for that you just need a better PC, I suppose. ![]()
If Crysis comes with this support, I'm definitely going to get shutter glasses and try it out. (with the new computer I get next year, that is
)
Update on this: I told Alexander and he forwarded the request to their lead engine programmer. No promises that it'll be in the engine as it's not a very high priority thing, but at least now they know about it and will think about it. ![]()
Great job for bringing this here, nathansteinke! (and thanks to other requests, too!
)

Thank You RTsa! We REALLY appreciate it :X

Heh, no problem. I actually probably want to see that in the engine almost as much as you do. ![]()
Seriously, I need to get to test shutterglasses somewhere..

Didn't it work perfectly with Farcry?

That sounds good RTsa!!
But you dont need nearly twice the framerate to play it. Its no problem to play with 30 fps. You just need the double refresh rate and that the point why TFTs dont works good with shutter glasses.
(With my 6600GT i have a 30-50% lower framerate in lot of games so i realy need a better PC
)
Everyone who is interested in S-3D can try it with some red-blue-glasses and after that you will decide to spend some money in a 3d-TFT or Projector setup or some shutter glasses ![]()
