Discussion of Crytek's Crysis games

Hello folks.
I am using:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
MSI nVidia 8800 Ultra OC 768 RAM Onboard
2 gigabyte RAM
X-Fi Extreme Music
500 watt power supply
Installed nVidia 169.01 driver
Installed Visual C++ 2005 x64 Redistributetable
Installed KB Update after setup
Installed Blaster X-Fi series Vista Driver 2.15.0002
Restarted System.
Everything worked, but then:
Started Demo: Runtime 30 seconds!
Passed demo notice, EA logo. Freezed at Crytec logo.
WTF is going on?! I had to use taskman.exe to stop the demo. Now I am reinstalling.
I already read that some users using Vista 64bit have problems... Great... Now what?

Oh. And does anyone else experience the same problem on a comparable system?

Interestingly the problem only occures on the - Crysis DX 10 - Oct 18 2007 (14:34:28) - application (crysis.exe) in the Bin64 folder. Has the 64bit version not been tested *lol*?
If I run Benchmark_CPU in Bin64 loading stops at 9%. Benchmark_GPU stops loading at 82%.
Meaning if I run the Crysis.exe from the Bin32 it works...

sorta same deal here.
cant run Demo (64bit)
cant run Editor (64bit)
But ewrything is smooth and fine in 32bit both demo and editor.
well except for the textures issue in editor else ewrything is fine. ![]()

fyi - Running Vista 64-bit also...
The demo ran fine for me, however, I installed the latest Forceware beta drivers 169.01, then the demo started freezing at various times. Uninstalled the betas and returned to my previous drivers and the 64-bit version of Crysis works fine again! Might be worth a try.

Same problem, except mine freezes right away. I don't even see the EA logo, it's just a black screen with Pre-release Demo on the top right.
Can't run anything in bin64 and running it from Games folder in DX9 or DX10 also causes the same crash. Have to run it from bin32.exe

It's a driver problem. Reverting to older nvidia drivers fixes this problem but at the same time you take a performance hit because well, they're old and not as optimized as the 169.01. I personally didn't do that because the game runs very well already on x86, I'll just wait for either newer beta drivers or the final game.

Yeah you are right! With the WHQL drivers 163.69 everything works perfect - slow though. But the mouse issue is solved, too.
Anyhow great game.

Yes, I have the same problem. I'm going back to previous drivers.

Would be interesting to know what gives best performance - old drivers, or just use the 32bit executable (with the beta drivers)...

I got mine to work on 64bit Vista, I did a couple of things to get it to work. I updated my realtek onboard sound drivers. I installed the beta Nvidia driver that is recommended. After all that didn't work, I ran dxdiag, and got a message when I hit the button to switch to 64bit dxdiag, I exited out and ran it again and it completed the progress and I have been able to run the game fine very since.

Didn't work to run dxdiag here... what message did you get?

Did a complete uninstall of the beta drivers, reboot, install 163.69, reboot, and still no joy?
Bummer man
it was just the drivers for me

Well so far I've used 163.75, .69, 169.01.
All crash for me... Lucky you guys who have it working

my vista ultimate 64 works PERFECTLY with demo + editor, in fact the editor crashes less in 64bit ![]()
and i gotta say it seems as though its always people with nvidia's who crash on 64bit.....

I can play the demo through the 64bit editor, But i can't touch the demo at all with it.

Same here, can't run Crysis 64-bit. I can run Editor 64 bit though, wierd. I have the new beta drivers but I don't want to go back to older drivers because I get a performance boost with them in the beta.
